Berry Weiss

FOUNDER & CEO

Story

Berry is an ambitious entrepreneur who’s founded numerous companies and teams. Following several successful ventures in the healthcare space, Berry founded Preferred Home Care in 2007, and has stood at the helm of the company since.

Specialty

Establishing strong relationships with home care agencies, hospitals and facilities across the state. The trust that Berry’s built with hundreds of healthcare professionals — thanks to excellent customer service and care — has fueled Preferred’s explosive growth.

Passion

Making the right match! Berry believes that fit is crucial for quality of care. He is passionate about helping people find reliable and compassionate aides who integrate well with their unique family dynamics and schedule.

Allen Hymowitz

ADMINISTRATOR

Story

Allen has served as Preferred’s Administrator since the company’s inception. He brings decades of experience in management and has filled leadership roles in the healthcare industry for years.

Passion

Hiring the right people! Allen believes that hiring experienced, dedicated and professional personnel is the key to growing and expanding a successful home care agency. (His method seems to be working!)

Specialty

Allen is known for his detail-oriented and personal style of management: he is wholly committed to the patients of Preferred, and that commitment comes through in every managerial decision. He believes that strong and effective leadership is built on a foundation of mutual respect and trust.

Hobbies

Reading mysteries, watching football and baseball, and playing bridge.

Sandra L. Picillo RN, BSN, MSJ

DIRECTOR OF PATIENT SERVICES

Story

Sandra has been involved in home care for the past 20 years. After 25 years in retail and customer service, she launched a career in nursing — graduating first with a BSN, then earning a Master’s of Science from Seton Hall Law School with a focus on health law and compliance.

Passion

Sandra is a passionate patient advocate! She spends much of her time writing and visiting Albany to ensure that home care services remain intact — and that patients can continue to live in the homes and communities they love.

Specialty

Sandra makes sure our patients are safe + happy — and our aides are compliant. She also ensures that our customer representatives are well-equipped to give every client outstanding service.

Areas of expertise:

  • Nursing and corporate compliance
  • DOH home care regulations and standards
  • Legal aspects of documentation in homecare
  • Patient care and patient safety.

Hobbies

Spending time with family and friends. Football, socializing, cards, and traveling.

Robert Heller

VICE PRESIDENT

Story

Robert is a Certified Public Accountant who brings 28 years of home health care experience to the team. Prior to becoming VP of Finance at Preferred, he served as Chief Financial Officer at National Home Health Care Corp., a large regional home health care company with subsidiaries across the Northeast. Robert proved integral to the company’s growth, engineering a pivotal series of acquisitions and building important internal systems and processes.

Robert offers a breadth of experience. For decades, he’s helped operate both Medicare-certified and licensed home care operations.

Specialty

Managing the company’s finances! Robert is responsible for all accounting and financial reporting; he advises on all financial decisions at Preferred.

Passion

Embracing the challenge of working with Preferred’s strong management team to help build another successful and well-recognized home health care company.

Hobbies

Travel, fine dining, racquet sports and card games.
